Physio Action are thrilled to welcome Diane to the Ilkley Clinic.
Diane Qualified with a First Class Honours Degree from Manchester University in 2002 & started her career as a Junior Physiotherapist working in Chapel Allerton & Leeds General Infirmary. She specialised in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2004. After working in the NHS for 5 years, she has had a variety of roles for the Ministry of Defence, Private hospitals and running her own business for 4 years.
A move to Yorkshire during covid provided the opportunity to work once again for the MOD; but this time at the Army Foundation College (Harrogate). A caseload of male & female 16-18year olds undergoing their Junior Soldier training, as well as the permanent staff members at the college have given Diane a unique opportunity to develop knowledge & skills to work with the adolescent population.
Pilates has always been a passionate of hers and in early 2020, she became an APPI Certified Matwork Instructor. She has been teaching pilates since her initial training in 2009 and applies the principles of movement to lots of her clinical practice. Further training in antenatal & post natal physio, shoulder rehabilitation & pilates for cycling & running ensure she has been able to teach a wide variety of clients in both 1:1 and class settings.
She is passionate about Physiotherapy and providing a patient centred approach to care, ensuring an understanding of why clients are experiencing their symptoms, how they can be treated and what to do to prevent them reoccurring in the future. Hands on techniques such as massage, trigger point release, dry needling or taping are utilised, whilst guiding clients to take control of their body, through an understanding of strength & conditioning principles, to speed up recovery.
Playing county level badminton as a teenager has given her a great understanding of the mechanics of racket sports. Her main hobbies now are road cycling & Zumba, but she also loves to bake. Through participation in long distance cycling events, she knows the importance of a correctly fitting bike & and has trained in bike fitting to ensure a comfortable fit for her cyclist clients. It has been a joy for her to get back to the slopes this Winter as she has skied from a young age.
