Welcome to our new therapists

We’ve recently boosted our team of specialists in Harrogate with the addition of two new therapists.

Allen Brown is a highly experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist who has worked in the NHS and private healthcare and is a former First Team physiotherapist for the Leeds United Ladies Football Team.
In his most recent NHS role as a First Contact Practitioner in Harrogate, he has worked closely with local radiology, orthopaedic, GP and physiotherapy teams which puts him one step ahead when needing to refer on, or liaise  with, other professionals in order to progress his clients’ recovery. Allen is qualified in Injection Therapy and Acupuncture.

Matt Hancocks is not entirely new to the Physio Action team, having worked with us extensively in the past in musculoskeletal management, exercise-based rehabilitation, and sports specific fitness. He is qualified in sports therapy, soft tissue and myofascial massage and is a specialist in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and performance. Matt is able to bridge the gap between physiotherapy and a return to normal function and sport.

Top Tip for an Active Autumn

As we start to return to the gym, court, pitch or playing fields after the summer months, it’s especially important to step up activity gradually.

Injuries result from 1 or a combination of these 3 components:

  • Too much
  • Too soon
  • Too quickly

By pushing beyond our body’s activity to take the load we push past our capacity and ability to cope.

By the time we get pain, the injury has been building up over time, it hasn’t just happened all of a sudden, we have simply pushed past the body’s ability to cope.

To avoid these problems, we can do 2 things:

  1. Keep the load less than the body’s capacity;
  2. Increase the body’s capacity to take the load.

Physio Action can help you achieve this. We offer the full package from diagnosis to developing a treatment plan, including manual therapy and rehabilitation. Call our central booking line on 0113 2687578 or email info@physioaction.co.uk

Avoiding overuse injuries in racquet sports

Did you know ..? You can check that you are using the correct size grip on your tennis racquet by measuring from the bottom lateral crease to the end of your ring finger. Having the correct size grip will help prevent overuse injuries such as tennis or golfer’s elbow.
